How to stagger marketing emails through your Gmail account

To stagger Gmail marketing emails, use a SwitchOff Journey with chosen sending days, hours and an hourly limit. SwitchOff works through the queued emails during those windows, rather than requiring you to send a batch manually. Your computer can be off, and Gmail’s own limits still apply.

What does staggered sending mean?

Instead of attempting one large bulk send, emails are released gradually during the working periods you choose. You might configure 10, 15 or 20 emails per hour, for example. Those figures are illustrations of possible settings, not recommendations or delivery guarantees.

An hourly limit caps the pace; it does not promise evenly spaced sends or an exact delivery time. Other running Journeys share sending capacity, and messages wait until they are eligible.

Set the hours that fit your business

Choose the sending days, start time and end time for marketing emails. That helps the campaign follow the rhythm of your business rather than running at arbitrary times. Messages waiting outside the window remain queued for a later eligible time.

Keep follow-ups on the same schedule

A Journey can contain more than one email. After the initial promotion, later follow-ups use their configured delays while still respecting the applicable sending settings. This gives each contact a consistent sequence without requiring you to remember every next step.

What gradual sending does — and does not — promise

Gradual sending gives you practical control and avoids intentionally launching your entire list in one moment. It does not guarantee inbox placement, avoid spam filtering, create unlimited Gmail capacity or override Google’s policies. Your content, audience and account rules still matter.
